Cargill, record earnings: $110 billion
The fiscal year on 31st May 2017 is the best one since 2009
Sales of hamburger and chicken nuggets helped the company to highly raise its income
The Us giant Cargill, world leader in food, agricultural and industrial products, with a considerable presence in Italy, successfully closed the fiscal year on 31st May 2017: revenue stands at $109,7 billion, with a net income of $2,85 billion, +19% compared with the previous year. The company reported it.
Sales, rapidly increasing, of hamburger and chicken nuggets helped the company to raise income up to the highest level since 2009. In the 4th trimester net income passed from $15 to 347 million in a year, driven by retail demand and export business of meat, while Asian department, dedicated to chickens, exported more meat abroad and European costumers bought a significant amount of fresh poultry.
Income increased even in the cocoa and wheat departments.
In 1962 Cargill started its activity in Italy and, after various acquisitions over time, nowadays counts about 700 employees based in the headquarters of Castelmassa (Ro), Cherasco (Cn), Fiorenzuola d’Arda (Pc), Melfi (Pz), Milan, Milazzo (Me), Sospiro (Cr), Spessa (Pv) and Padua.
In 2015 the Italian branch had charged about €670 million.
The 150-years-old company counts 150,000 employees in 70 countries all over the world.
